         Building Regulations Part L1A

           New Build SAP Assessment

What is building regulations part L1A?

SAP is the Government's Standard Assessment Procedure for Energy Ratings of Dwellings.

Part L1A covers the minimum energy performance requirements for new domestic dwellings. By completing Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) calculations we provide "At-Design" stage or Predicted Energy Assessment and "As-Built" assessment and an Energy Performance Certificate.

Who needs them?

Anyone who is undertaking a new build and the purpose of this fully accredited service is demonstrate compliance with the Governments energy performance requirements in the Building Regulations Part L set out in the Approved Document L. The legal requirement for all new build domestic dwellings is for an Assessment to be carried out at the design stage showing the "At Design" projected rating. This is to be submitted to the planning department. Then at the completion stage a second "As-Built" assessment and EPC has to be completed to evidence compliance to the planning department before sign off.

When completing an assessment lots of information is utilised including but not limited to  :-

1, The size of the dwelling

2, Heat loss through walls, roofs, floors, openings and ventilation

3, Heating systems and controls

4, Lighting

5, Ventilation systems

6, Renewable technologies.

It is quite difficult to pass an assessment and should the "At -Design" stage assessment fail we can offer support in identifying the way forward to pass the assessment.

Can anyone complete them?

No. They must be completed by an accredited On Construction Domestic Energy Assessor (OCDEA) and of course Your Space Energy Assessments are fully qualified and accredited by Quidos Ltd
